Throughout united states history, technological development have played an important role in transforming American society. The railroad and television have both positive and negative effects on the united states and on American society.

Railroads played a large role in the development of the us from the industiral revolution in the north east 1810-50 to the settlement of the west 1850-1890. Railroads was a positive affect because it helped with transportation and getting to places faster.Before people walked or rode a horse to get around. Railroads moved goods and people street distance.Railroads also had a negative affect in the sense that it made the American society think negative racist views of the chinese immigrants who were helping construct the railroads.

Television had an important role because it gave entertainment. TV played an important role in the political process, particularly in shaping national election campaigns. Majorities who appeared on TV were Caucasian.On Sept 26th 1960 a debate between the two major candidates for presidency of the US was presented on TV for the first time. Education TV also made important advance in 1960. National educational television delivered a few hours of comparatively inexpensive programming a film and video tape of educational situations across the country. TV has a positive effect because instaed of having to go read about the news or weather you can watch educational things. Its negative because there are alot of bad things on TV and children can see it.

As you can see technology played a very important role. The upgrade of technology if for things to be easier for you and less difficult.
